You are running. You have been running for what feels like hours. Your legs are moving. The door is the same distance away. There is something behind you in red robes and it is not running. It is standing still and it is getting closer.

Traits #

Nightmare Creature. Requires +2 magical weapons to damage. Spells of 2nd level or lower fail automatically. Reduced to 0 HP, expelled to its dimension. Disadvantage on attacks in full natural sunlight.

Always First. The chronoclast always acts on initiative count 30 (before all other creatures). It cannot be surprised.

Apparent Stillness. The chronoclast appears stationary to creatures affected by its Temporal Zone. Affected creatures have disadvantage on ranged attack rolls against it and cannot judge its distance accurately.

Voice Suppression Aura. Creatures affected by the Temporal Zone who fail their saving throw also lose the ability to speak above a whisper; verbal spell components are impossible.

Actions #

Multiattack. The chronoclast uses Temporal Zone, then makes two Temporal Touch attacks.

Temporal Touch. Melee Spell Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (2d8 + 5) psychic damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or be slowed (as the slow spell) until the end of its next turn.

Temporal Zone (Recharge 4–6). The chronoclast warps time in a 30-foot radius. Each creature in the area must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or be affected: halved speed, initiative score reduced to 1, and only one action or bonus action (not both) per turn. The effect lasts until the end of the chronoclast’s next turn. The chronoclast is immune.
