Quick Casting Motes: Hastened Arcana
This ability allows a magic-user to cast spells more quickly. All ranks are dependent on a successful skill check.
Penny Rank (Pre-Casting)
- Rule: At the beginning of a round, the magic-user can declare that they have the components ready for a specific spell. That spell is then cast at the very start of the next round, before initiative is rolled.
- Penalty: If the caster changes their mind or fails the required skill check, they lose their action for that round, shuffling their components.
Baccara Rank (Imbued Objects)
- Skill Bonus: Your skill level for Quick Casting increases by +1.
- Imbuing Spells: Spells can be re-learned with this mote, allowing the caster to imbue the spell’s energy into an object.
- Object Cost: The object must be worth 20sp per spell level.
- Effect: When the object is presented, the spell activates during the Magic (I) phase of their initiative. The object is consumed in the process.
- Duration: The imbue effect lasts for 24 hours but can be extended by expending the spell slot again.
- Limit: Only one spell per spell level may be imbued at a time.
Sovereign Rank (Increased Imbuing)
- Skill Bonus: Your skill level for Quick Casting increases by an additional +1.
- Limit: The caster can now have two imbued objects per spell level at a time.
Ducat Rank (New Spell Learning)
- Rule: This mote can now be applied to any new spell the magic-user learns. Spells already in the caster’s spellbook must still be re-learned to gain this mote.
- Skill Bonus: Your skill level for Quick Casting increases by an additional +1.
Crown Rank (Masterful Imbuing)
- Imbuing Limits: The magic-user can now have three imbued objects per spell level.
- Special Imbuing: Additionally, the caster can imbue one spell per spell level that does not require a material component. This provides a total of four quick cast options per spell level.
- Simultaneous Casting: When the magic-user uses one of their non-material component imbued spells, it does not use an action for the round, allowing them to cast an additional spell on their normal initiative.
