It has her face. It has her voice. It is standing at the end of the hallway and it is her except her face is too smooth and her arm bends at an angle that arms do not bend and when it opens its mouth the teeth are in the wrong place and there is an eye in its throat looking at you.

Traits #

Nightmare Creature. Requires +2 magical weapons to damage. Spells of 2nd level or lower fail automatically. Reduced to 0 HP, it is expelled to its dimension rather than destroyed. In full natural sunlight, attack rolls have disadvantage and special abilities function at half effectiveness.

Doppelganger Form. The somnambulist appears identical to a creature currently significant to its target. A creature that actively suspects the disguise can attempt a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw to see through it. Physical contact feels warm and correct.

Doubt Aura. Each creature within 30 feet that can see the somnambulist must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw at the start of its turn or spend its reaction convinced the somnambulist is genuinely the person it resembles.

Elastic Anatomy. Immune to grappled, restrained, and paralyzed from physical sources. Its body bends past restraints.

Silent Movement. Cannot be detected by hearing alone. Automatically succeeds on Dexterity (Stealth) checks made to move silently.

Actions #

Multiattack. The somnambulist makes one Identity Erosion touch and uses Throat-Eye Gaze if available.

Identity Erosion Touch. Melee Spell Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: The target must succeed on a DC 16 Charisma saving throw or lose 1 point from a random ability score (1d3: 1 = Intelligence, 2 = Wisdom, 3 = Charisma). Losses recover at 1 point per long rest. A creature reduced to 3 in an ability score suffers full impairment.

Throat-Eye Gaze (Recharge 5–6). The somnambulist opens its mouth to reveal an eye in its throat. Each creature within 30 feet that can see it must succeed on a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw or be stunned until the end of its next turn, frozen in horror watching the eye.
